New Kingdom Hearts 4 Screenshots Released, Suggests Playable King Mickey Segment

After yesterday’s unfortunate news about the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, Square Enix is making amends by releasing a few new screenshots from the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 4.

Most of the screenshots seem to be taken in the same scenarios shown in the reveal trailer from 3 years ago. But, with greatly improved character models and visuals.

Along with the screenshots, Square Enix shared the following message:

“To our Kingdom Hearts community, We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts IV and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!

We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts. We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support.”

Potential Playable King Mickey Segment in Kingdom Hearts 4

One of the screenshots included reveals what seems to be a playable King Mickey segment. It would not be the first time we get to control the beloved mouse in a Kingdom Hearts game, as Kingdom Hearts 2 included certain boss encounters where Mickey would jump in and assist a fallen Sora in battle. And the Kingdom Hearts 3: ReMind DLC also included a brief scene where you played as him.

Unlike previous examples, however, this segment seems to make him playable outside of battle as you navigate through a large library. The length of the playable segment and whether it will be the only one is still unclear.
