There might be a while yet before we get the next GTA 6 Trailer, according to Take-Two CEO
“The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property,” CEO Zelnick says. And he’s probably right.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, CEO of Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick revealed that they prefer to hold off on marketing until very close to release in order to build anticipation and excitement for the release.
“We want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement. And we do have competitors who will describe their release schedule for years in advance. And we found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement on the one hand and balance the excitement with unmet anticipation. We don’t always get it exactly right, but that’s what we are trying to do.”
The first trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI came out on December 5th 2023, 482 days ago. With this apparent marketing strategy, one can wonder why they decided to release the first trailer in December of 2023, rather than 2024.
The latter would certainly save users on the r/GTA6 Subreddit from having to recount the holes in Lucia’s cell door net for the 127th time. Or trying to look for details in the trailer that could hint at when the next trailer releases, which till now has lead to disappointment among fans every time the speculated date passes. But while some of them are getting closer to being involuntarily checked into a mental institution, some are also just passing the time by making some hilarious memes.
As of now, we are no closer to knowing exactly when the next trailer will be out, but in the latest earnings call just a few weeks ago, Take-Two reaffirmed that they were still on track for a 2025 release of GTA 6. Which is a solid sign that the reason behind the long wait has nothing to do with a looming delay and further suggests that the CEO’s comments during the Bloomberg interview are true.
But as it stand, we still probably have to wait at least a few more months. With a trailer probably releasing during the summer months before the official pre-order period starts.
