Tomb Raider: Catalyst announced at the 2025 Game Awards

The Game Awards has announced the newest Tomb Raider game: Tomb Raider Catalyst at the 2025 Game Awards. Slated for 2027 this game will be the first new game in the series since 2018, not counting the 2023 mobile title Tomb Raider Reloaded, following up after several years of re releases.

Starting off with a seeming antagonist narrating Lara’s impressive credentials, she gets taken down in a flashy action sequence with gunplay and a grappling device of some kind, showing off Lara in a dramatic reveal.

This follows up with a panoramic shot sweeping across a wilderness landscape, with pillars of stone physically rising into the air as Lara hangs off one of them, presenting a wide view of her surroundings including other fantastical elements such as a floating island holding some sort of structure…

Sadly, the trailer was light on actual gameplay, as with many other trailers during the game awards this year. Though with the release date possibly as far as two years out, that isn’t the most surprising thing. That being said, the end of the trailer did namedrop Steam, Playstation, and Xbox, suggesting a strongly cross-platform title.
