Achievements and more are coming to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom as part of their Nintendo Switch 2 release

The publisher’s most recent Direct revealed some interesting new features for their existing game library.

Through the upcoming Nintendo Switch App— Nintendo will be adding a handful of new features that will accommodate several of the titles in its pre-existing library. Adding a new way to experience some of them.

This was revealed during Nintendo’s most recent Direct broadcast dedicated to showing of Nintendo Switch 2 features and games. Among these games are the fan favorites Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, both part of the classic Legend of Zelda franchise.

Via the app, you’ll now be able to get achievements within both games like visiting certain places, completing quests, earning rupees and collecting certain items.

In addition the app will also use in-game GPS tracking to help you locate things like shrines and Korok seeds, eliminating the need to look up 3rd party guides.

Both these features are sure to please the completionists out there who are not satisfied until they’ve collected all 900 seeds and obtained Hestu’s special little “reward.”

Some players are seeing this announcement as a bit of a “well, that’s about time” moment since competing consoles like Playstation and Xbox both introduced achievements 2 generations earlier. And even then, some are showing frustrations that Nintendo’s version requires an external app on your phone as opposed to making it a native system feature.
