Kingdom Hearts Fans have voted on which world is the Best in the Series, and the result is surprising
While the Kingdom Hearts 4 drought is strong, it hasn’t stopped fans from enjoying the series together.
One of the staples of the Kingdom Hearts franchise is its lineup of both original and Disney worlds appearing throughout the various games. In a recent video on Youtube, content creator Regular Pat revealed the results of a survey where Kingdom Hearts fans were asked to vote for their top-5 favorite worlds. And the number 1 result is honestly a bit surprising.
In the current 3-year draught since the announcement of Kingdom Hearts 4, it’s always nice when content creators help keep us sane by providing some entertainment. Combined with the little moments where fans spot Kingdom Hearts references in other media. We’re still able to hang on.
The original poll lists multiple iterations of the same worlds as they appear in different games. Which makes sense because a world, while technically being the same, can feel wildly different depending on the game.
While some games are excluded like The Kingdom Hearts V-Cast game and Memory of Memories where the worlds were more like stages, where aside from the visual differences and the music, they are exactly the same.
We’re going to get the bottom one out of the way first as it’s not particularly interesting aside from the fact that it got 0 out of 25,000 votes (ouch). According to the poll, the least favorite world in the entire series is Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road’s iteration of Beast’s Castle.
It should be noted that being at the bottom of this list does not mean everyone hated it, but simply that it was no one’s favorite.
Kingdom Hearts Fans’ Top 5 Favorite Worlds
5. The Caribbean (Kingdom Hearts 3)

I am happy to see The Caribbean get the love it deserves as it is by far the best Disney world in the entire franchise. And as this recent vote shows, I’m not alone in thinking that.
While the story part of it is pretty weak, the size and open world exploration aspect far makes up for it and serves as a great taste of what an open world Kingdom Hearts game could potentially feel like. Justifying its position as the only Disney world in the top 5.
4. The World That Never Was (Kingdom Hearts 2)

Not too surprising, The World That Never Was comes in at fourth place. As the final world in the franchise’s beloved 2nd (numbered) entry. The castle that houses all the members of Organization XIII bares a kind of eerie and mysterious energy as you make your way to the top and plow through the remaining nobodies and organization members. A place where it truly feels like the work is both mysterious and important.
3. Traverse Town (Kingdom Hearts 1)

In a well deserved 3rd place, we have Traverse Town. The in-between world that serves as a temporary home to all the people displaced by the fallen Disney worlds. As the second world introduced in the series after Destiny Islands, it gives off a very charming vibe. With the calm jazz music, the constant nighttime, and the whimsical town aestethic. It’s no wonder people like it so much.
2. Twilight Town (Kingdom Hearts 2)

Personally my favorite world in both KH2 and KH3. Not only is it the first world I ever played since I started out playing Kingdom Hearts 2. But it’s also the most beautiful in my opinion. The constant state of sunset, the french town aesthetic, and the incredibly calming music as you navigate through it. If there’s any video game place I wish would exist in real life, it would be Twilight Town.
While the Kingdom Hearts 3 version felt more detailed and populated. It didn’t do it justice as it only included a single area.
1. Hollow Bastion (Kingdom Hearts 1)

Now this is by far the most surprising result. Personally, I wouldn’t have expected this to hit top 5, let alone 1st place. But yet, it managed to beat Twilight Town by just 3 votes. With Twilight Town receiving 2,104 votes, and Hollow Bastion receiving 2,107 votes.
To a degree, I can see why people like it. It bares the same mysterious feeling as The World That Never Was. And it is, after all, an endgame level (well, near endgame anyway), and navigating it can be challenging but also rewarding. If you like puzzles, you probably enjoy this world more than me.
That being said, I am a little surprised it wasn’t weighed down by the trauma of having to watch through that cutscene 57 times. If you know, you know.
Honorable Mentions
As people are going to be undoubtedly curious, we also want to list some of the results that didn’t make it to top 5.
- Toy Box came in 7th.
- Deep Jungle is 26th – 27th (tied with Radient Garden from Birth By Sleep)
- Atlantica (KH2) is on 53rd.
- And Arendelle on 61st.
As a proud Norwegian, the last one hurts my soul. But, I can’t deny that Disney’s obvious meddling with that world ruined a lot of its potential.
We highly recommend checking out Regular Pat’s video where he deepdives into the results and gives his take on them.
The full results can also be found in this spreadsheet, which is also linked in the description of his video.
